Description

This project was part of Move Illinois, a 15-year, $14 Billion capital program aimed at reducing travel time and pollution and creating jobs, increasing mobility, and connecting economies throughout the region. This construction contract included reconstructing and widening I-294 from North Avenue to Grand Avenue, enabling future improvements to I-490 and I-390 that will reduce road traffic and delays near O’Hare International Airport and surrounding communities. The scope of work included: reconstructing two two-span mainline north- and southbound bridges over North Avenue and Lake Street and one single-span southbound exit ramp bridge onto I-290 westbound, completing the jack and bore of a 60-inch reinforced concrete pipe stormwater sewer while maintaining a live fiber optic line, paving and street restoration, constructing noise walls and retaining walls, coordinating utilities, and incidental site and civil work. Rehabilitating and reconstructing the roadway improves safety and rideability, and enhances ITS, traffic signing, and lighting.
