This project is part of CDOT’s strategic plan for transportation to improve the city’s infrastructure, transportation equity, and mobility justice. This project consists of approximately 7.3 miles of roadway between three separate corridors in the West Loop neighborhood, Grand Crossing neighborhood and South Loop neighborhood of Chicago. Each corridor will have new protected bike lanes installed to further enhance the safety and connectivity of Chicago’s expanding bicycle network. At this time, each of the three corridors included on this project has unprotected bike lanes which will be updated by this project.
Specific project locations included 1.5 miles of Washington Blvd., Ashland Ave. to Wacker Dr., 4.3 miles of South Chicago Ave., E. 71st Street to E. 95th Street and 1.5 miles of Canal St. from Roosevelt Rd. to 26th St.
d’Escoto is developing existing design plans (30%), existing typicals along with field survey verification for each corridor.
