The project consisted of the complete replacement of the four-span bridge (SN 101-0098) with a two-span continuous, steel plate girder bridge (SN 101-0206) carrying Perryville Road over I-39. This was an enabling project for the reconstruction and widening of the I-39 corridor. Roadway improvements included the construction of concrete approach slabs, pavement connectors, hot mix asphalt (HMA) pavement and resurfacing, and combination concrete curb and gutters. The improvements also included HMA shoulders, guardrail, pavement markings, storm sewers, and seeding.
d’Escoto provided construction inspection services including:
• Providing a Consultant Assistant Resident Engineer (CAR) and three construction inspectors
• Inspecting and documenting pay quantities, material testing, construction staking, and layout as needed
• Completing required documentation and ensuring project was constructed in accordance with the plans and specifications
• Assisting the IDOT resident engineer (RE) with all documentation, including but not limited to: job diary, weekly reports, daily quantities, field books, calculations, traffic control reports, erosion control reports, consultant weekly reports, authorizations, and pay estimates
• Assisting the IDOT RE with coordination of all local stakeholders including affected businesses, schools, and residents to ensure any possible impacts such as utilities or driveway access during construction was coordinated and maintained
• Assisting the IDOT RE with resolving conflicts arising from field conditions
• Implementing a project documentation system including filing logs for submittals, pay applications, scope changes, RFIs and progress photography
• Reviewing existing site conditions
• Photographing and documenting every aspect of the site that will be impacted by the construction
• Properly entering and uploading all documentation into the Construction and Materials Management System
• Conducting bi-weekly progress meetings to ensure the stakeholder and contractor are made aware of the status of the project
• Reviewing and ensuring the contractor has complied to regulated soils special provisions
• Reviewing construction staking of the contractor and performing survey of the jobsite that the project has been built to plan lines, grades, and elevations
