Description

Vivian Gordon Harsh Apartment is a fourteen-story high-rise building built in 1962. Its constructed with a reinforced concrete structural frame, masonry infill panels and brick veneer. The 1.3-acre site is bordered by Oakenwald Street to the west and 43rd Street to the south. The site has limited green space, amenities, parking and is generally underutilized by residents. The work for this project included improvements of the front entrance walking paths, MEP/FP/ITS, amenities, select masonry and window repairs, and a complete roof replacement.

This project was completed as part of the Chicago Housing Authorities  multi-year Capital Improvement Program which includes projects at all its various properties, including family housing, senior housing, scattered site housing and specialty, non-housing.

Services Provided

d’Escoto Inc. provided Phase II design services. Specifically, the d’Escoto, Inc. staff performed the following:
• Wrote and compiled special provisions to ensure the contractor completes the project per building codes and specifications.
• Developed and compiled calculation sheets for each pay item to come up with the final cost estimate for the entire project.
• Utilized AutoCAD to produce civil site, geometry, drainage, erosion & sediment control, O&M, and grading design plans.
