Description

d’Escoto, Inc. was selected by the Chicago Department of Water Management to provide construction engineering services for various private drain sewer improvement projects located throughout the City of Chicago. These services were issued on multi-year task order-based contracts.

Services Provided

d’Escoto, Inc. provided Phase III engineering services to oversee the CDWM Private Drain Repair Program – North and Central Areas. The Resident Engineer oversaw the program. One inspector covered the South area, and one covered the North area. The third and fourth inspectors were on an as-needed basis when the city directed the contractor to add additional crews.
d’Escoto, Inc. personnel provided the following services:
Inspectors:
• Inspected the work to verify it was constructed per City standards and specifications
• Prepared daily construction reports
• Inspected the private drain (PD) after excavation, exposing, and opening the PD
• Monitored the insertion of the camera to locate the blockage in the PD
• Measured all work and submitted the daily report with measurement sheet
• Prepared a break report if a utility was hit and coordinated with that utility for repair
• Coordinated with other agencies and city departments
• Approved the monthly estimate after inspection of street restoration for each PD repair
• Addressed concerns by the public and attended community meetings
Resident Engineers:
• Worked with EAM software, systems and services used to maintain and control incoming work orders for repair works
• Entered daily production optimizing time when doing the invoices at the end of each month
• Increased productive uptime and reduced operational costs
• Managed and analyzed asset performance and organized field inspection needs
• Managed activities and contractor schedules to ensure repairs were being done in a timely manner
• Performed site inspections and assisted inspectors with fieldwork as needed
• Reviewed and checked the daily report with measurement sheet
• Assisted the contractor with utility coordination
• Coordinated with other agencies and city departments
• Assisted City personnel with paperwork such as PCMs, LICs, field orders, ADA ramp, QC reports, and monthly estimates

Together,  team members ensure that contractors secure all necessary permits and continue to move forward with programmed projects for Far North, North and Central Sewer Lining Program.
