Description

This 20,000 square foot facility was formerly an office and warehouse space that was rehabilitated for CPD use. It includes offices, a roll-call room, locker rooms with showers, a hold room, a workout facility, interview rooms, and storage for various departments including Canine, SWAT, and Bomb Squad. Substantial portions of Building 521 were renovated to comply with current Chicago Building Codes and to accommodate the new use. The HVAC system was replaced, and both an emergency standby system and a new fire protection system were installed. Among several sustainable features, the lighting was upgraded to improve its efficiency.
