Field Inspector
Description

The Field Inspector position is responsible for fully understanding construction project plans and specifications, construction quality assurance, field quality measurement, project documentation including daily written and photo documentation, and material testing on one or multiple concurrent construction projects. This position will serve as the on-site technical representative for the inspection of contractor construction activities, daily coordination with the contractor and other entities, and recommending acceptance of completed work. All inspectors will act under the responsibility of a Project Leader or Resident Engineer.

Responsibilities

POSITION FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Analyzes applicable codes , standards and specifications and monitors construction activities for compliance
• Performs general inspection of construction work for compliance with contract documents
• Monitors contractor's site performance
• Prepares Inspectors' Daily Reports (IDRs) and Daily Construction Reports (DCRs) and fills out appropriate inspection checklists for work under their supervision
• Documents any quality related issues that result in non-conformance reports (NCRs) or Quality Deficiency Reports (QDRs) in OCR
• Analyzes applicable codes, standards and specifications and monitors construction activities for compliance
• Takes daily progress photos
• Inspects material for compliance with contract documents, schedules and field orders
• Verifies work onsite is in full compliance with FAA Part 139
• Informs Project Leader /Resident Engineer of all issues
• Other duties assigned by the Resident Engineer

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND SKILLS
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or equivalent
• Experience working on civil construction projects as field inspector or recent graduate with either an engineering or construction management degree
• IDOT Documentation
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to read and interpret contract documents and construction plans and specifications
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong time management skills and excellent attention to detail
• Ability to effectively manage project team members. Must be very organized and have effective problem solving, leadership and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work on multiple projects/deadlines
• Ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative environment
• Team oriented working style and hands on approach to problem solving
• Fluent with computer software including Microsoft Office

• Competitive base pay ($40.00 to $55.00 per hour)
