The d’Escoto team provided construction inspection services for the replacement and resurfacing of 7.5 miles of road from US 30 to the Carroll County Line. The project scope encompassed replacing culvert of various sizes from 36” to 96”, overlaying asphalt in either direction, and milling asphalt. Additional work included re-ditching existing slopes and waterways and remediating slopes to ensure proper groundwater runoff, removing and replacing old guardrails with new ones, and removing and replacing all state highway road signs.
• d’Escoto provided Phase III Engineering Construction Inspection services including:
• Observing the placement of all state roadway signs, erosion control fencing, box culverts, removal and replacement of guardrails, compaction of trench backfill areas and asphalt compaction methods, and documenting the proper placement of erosion control blankets for landscapers
• Maintaining all traffic control patterns including road closures and detours, and keeping steady communication between the resident engineer (RE) and all hired contractors
• Inspecting and documenting pay quantities, material testing, construction staking, and performing depth checks as needed
• Measuring seeds, rip rapp layouts, asphalt patch layouts, culvert layouts, state signage layouts, and measuring asphalt patch layouts as needed
• Sampling asphalt core, and calculating various quantities
• Completing required documentation requirements, keeping proper records per state standards, and constructing the work in accordance with the plans and specifications
• Assisting the IDOT RE with all documentation, including but not limited to: job diary, weekly reports, daily quantities, field books, calculations, traffic control reports, erosion control reports, consultant weekly reports, authorizations, and pay estimates
