The construction of the Employee Parking Package #1 project occurred adjacent to the existing Taxiway B Hold Pad. Demolition included the removal of existing pavement, utilities, and smaller buildings. Abandoned FAA utilities from decommissioned 14L-32R were removed including an existing shelter. The security perimeter fence in the project area was adjusted to accommodate the parking lot footprint.
Sitework included grading, storm sewer installation, sanitary sewer, duct bank for power and communication, water-main, fencing, and the construction of a compensatory storage basin followed by subgrade lime stabilization, paving, markings, and connection of all utilities inclusive of fire hydrant installation, signage, and lot lighting. The entire site foundation was engineered and constructed deliberately to be used as a future hold pad for aircraft. Additionally, two buildings were constructed to be utilized as hold rooms and security check points for employee access to the airfield. Electrical charging stations were also installed as part of this package.
Work on Package #2 included the reconfiguration and construction of controlled access checkpoints to the parking lot, and reconfiguration to the Bessie Coleman intersection, creating dedicated lanes to facilitate a modern access point to the employee parking lot. Work elements included pavement demolition, utility demolition, earthwork, grading, drainage, utilities, common electrical duct bank, paving, guard booth installation, pavement marking, lighting and fencing.
