CTA Capital Improvement Program
The CTA is working to extend the useful life of the restored facilities including, but not limited to, buildings, stations, ground, rail and buses ,and to provide new facilities. The Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) will integrate multiple individual projects located in, or affecting the entire Transit Authority service area.
d’Escoto, Inc.’s Role
d’Escoto, Inc. has been directly responsible for managing various aspects of the CIP program including:
Ensuring proper funding levels
Monitoring and reporting on project expenditures
Creating and maintaining P6 master program schedule and coordinating project dependencies across the entire $2.1 billion capital improvement program
Providing cost review and creating project cost estimates for new capital improvement projects
Managing change orders
Providing station planning, track layout and design support using AutoCAD
Program planning assistance including developing scope, schedules and budgets
d’Escoto, Inc. provided additional construction management services related to the following task order projects: the System Wide Digital Advertising, the integration of the Slow-Zone Reporting System into AutoCAD and the Howard Station Restoration.
d’Escoto, Inc. staff developed a customized Program Controls system that integrated with the Oracle financial system and Primavera master schedule. The professional application encompassed the entire program scope and included systems to track and manage: program planning, design review, estimating, budgets, contracts, changes, project updates, meeting minutes, transmittals, lessons learned and time tracking. This highly integrated system is currently being used to produce all of the monthly status reports. The CTA quickly adopted the new system because of its ease of use and flexibility for reporting.
